Nick Bostrom, Longtermism, and the Eternal Return of Eugenics (2023)
- amarcheschi 2y agoIn this semester i'm following a course on social and ethical issues in information technology, and although the course in itself is interesting, i'm finding some issues. The first one is, sometimes you're reading sci-fi, not science. Such as the cases of imagining a hyper intelligent specialized asi that will surely arrive, and other thing i don't necessarily agree with, but that's just my opinion on it The second issue is related to the way that superstructures are built in such a way that makes me feel they're just there to eventually justify what it is deemed to be the truth, and not the other way around. Again, this is only what i think about the material and the authors i'm studying. However, after reading this article i'm a bit more sure that what was done was, in fact, done to justify the good old racism, classism ecc... I also find funny that the world envisioned by visionaries never discriminates against them (except for a few scenarios)
