- bayarearefugee 1y agoMicrosoft is surprisingly bad at software these days in my experience as an end-user of said software who has been using Microsoft software as far back as MS BASIC 2.0 on the Commodore 64. Despite all of the negative aspects of Microsoft in terms of business practices and such, I still found their software to be of very high quality from an end-user perspective through the 90s and up to around 2019 or so. Almost every bit of software I've used from them over the past 5-6 years across apps, Windows, the web and Xbox has been increasingly terrible (bloated, slow, buggy, etc), the only exception being VSCode. Not sure what changed there to cause this but the external impact is unmistakable.
