At the peak there were around 600 deaths per day, I believe a lot of those were in care homes, but even if not that's less than 1 in 12000 people per day, so 1 or 2 ambulances per day to a single apartment building still feels like an exaggeration to me, almost like propaganda...
I also guess it would be hard to accredit anything to the vaccines as you originally asserted, if it was actually all down to plucky New Yorkers mask wearing and social distancing
