In trade war, China holds many more cards than Trump; it may have a winning hand
- JumpCrisscross 2y agoIt wouldn’t have had anyone in the White House had a semblance of a strategy because we could have ensured they couldn’t find relief with their neighbours, Europe, Mexico or Canada. And we could have had the Fed looped in so they could could stand by to absorb shocks from Beijing dumping Treasuries.
- throwawayqqq11 2y agoTariffs or economic protectionism is not bad in and of itself. Such a plan including tariffs would also require giving incentives/financing for domestic economic development and a focus on long term stability. Trump is slashing expenses and busting through the door with exorbiant tariffs. Calling this dumb is a ridiculous understatement.
