Was FCGI ever common outside of PHP?
- jeltz 2y agoIt was common in the Perl world.
- actionfromafar 2y agoI don't know, but I think I used it with Java and/or C at some point. It's very simple, you don't need libraries or anything.
- p_l 2y agoBefore Phusion Passenger and Mongrel it was common in Rails world too.
- 4ndrewl 2y agoBefore PHP it was common in the Perl world.
- mrweasel 2y agoI used it quite a bit with Python, but it was quickly supplanted by UWSGI.
- Aldipower 2y agoYes, it was very common with Perl, even before PHP. I've written quite a lot of dynamic webpages with FastCGI and Perl and it led to fast and direct results. Combined with mod_perl you also could held this in memory. This was around 2000-2005.
