Did they give you a meal on the side? … Like, you know, what happened in Germany?” I dunno, this sounds about as tone-deaf as I was expecting. I was never taught that Nazi Germany showed signs of helping and liking the inhabitants of their concentration camps.

Did they give you a meal on the side? … Like, you know, what happened in Germany?” That sure seems like he’s saying the Jews’ captors showed mercy in ways which we know did not happen on anything like a wide scale.
