You mistake my comment to mean it isn't hard. It is absolutely a difficult problem with serious edge cases. There are people that have studied it quite heavily. They are still not a sizeable number in comparison to the number of devs that have enabled different text wrap options. Most of which do not give much thought to a setting that did not appreciably slow things down at all.
