I don't think intelligence is a coherent enough concept to be considered to have evolved once, let alone twice.
- anon84873628 2y agoIntelligence can be pretty well defined as something like: the ability of an organism to make an internal model of the outside world, and use that model to predict the world and plan its actions. There is of course a lot of variation in which things the model emphasizes and how much simulation is done, but that's the gist of it, and there are lots of ways to measure it in animals.
