This is a superb idea. I had seen random cat gacha but not trading cards of random dudes. Most efforts at custom TCGs seem to go nowhere at all because of the absence of any practical trading meta game, so bootstrapping that with local interest is a very neat marketing move that aligns very well with the desired community engagement. The result is that whole idea is greater than the sum of its parts.
