The classical Steve Jobs quote seems to be fitting here:
The only problem with Microsoft is they just have no taste. They have absolutely no taste. And I don't mean that in a small way, I mean that in a big way, in the sense that they don't think of original ideas, and they don't bring much culture into their products.
The video aside, the music that is presumably made by this product sounds exactly like something made on a Yamaha DX7, which went out of production in 1986! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_DX7 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_DX7)
It's awful, and it made me want a glow-in-the-dark towel more than it made me want songsmith.
- jodrellblank 18y agoYou mean you didn't want a glow-in-the-dark towel anyway?
- mixmax 18y agoI might buy some glow-in-the-dark knitting thread (http://www.embroiderthis.com/glindath.html http://www.embroiderthis.com/glindath.html) and make me one...
- amichail 18y agoI don't see much originality coming from Apple either. Not sure what he means by culture. BTW, there's lots of cool research coming out of Microsoft Research, but little of it seems to make it into their products.
- robak 18y agoyeah, just seen Microsoft Research video..... ;-) You bastard, how dare you being so sarcastic;-)))) lol
- maw 18y agoNot sure what he means by culture. "If you have to ask what jazz is, you'll never know."
- furyg3 18y agoCulture is like dark matter. It's basically a catch-all phrase for stuff we encounter and can't logically explain yet. Why do Europeans shake hands and Asians bow? Culture!
