Like with everything in the US, the goal with this is to make money.
On the surface level - it is extremely dumb to attribute trust in the institutions to groupthink. Alternative is what we have now - vibe trusting media influencers.
- poorts 2y agoSurely a rational alternative is scepticism of everyone, particularly of those that say things that you might otherwise agree with. Longer term, a good alternative is to build trust in institutions through transparency and application of the scientific method (and for the institutions to contribute measurably to outcomes that actually help improve the quality of life of the general-public and not mostly to outcomes that ultimately benefit the princes of the world).
