His response, "if being unreasonable is choosing to be with the woman I love, then I choose to be unreasonable" is peak objectivism. He is going to do what he wants - to do anything else would be a betrayal of objectivist principles. He is now estranged from his daughter Cordelia -er, Kira - over this.
