Ask HN: Will US tariffs boost robotics for manufacturing research?
Doing more manufacturing in the US may mean inventing more advanced robots to do it rather than hiring people.
- bigyabai 2y agoIf we did, nothing stops China from doing it cheaper. They're easily a generational leap ahead of America's capacity to manufacture robots on a mass scale. It might alleviate some of the domestic demand, but it won't guarantee we compete on a global scale.
