I agree with you- other than that they wanted Trump. In 2024, both candidates were historically unpopular, and polling continues to show that both parties approval ratings are at an all time low. My read is the election was a rejection of globalist neoliberal capitalism and Trump was the closest choice to that. If the democrats had run someone who was even willing to lie about making changes for regular people they would have won easily.
