Given that all other major countries, including China, are heavily investing in AI, it is essential for the USA to invest in this space, otherwise the USA would be at a severe competitive disadvantage in just about every category.
As an AI expert, though, I have a very pro-AI view, but I think its impact on the job market will be far more severe than many others. I'm actually teaching a lecture on that topic, grounded by data, next week. The real question to me is how the economic benefits of AI will be distributed among the populace and that requires both shifts in thinking in terms of economics, culture, government, and society. I predict a lot of societal unrest until those latter aspects are sorted out.

I've been hearing this assertion since the start of the hype cycle, but I've never heard anyone actually making a supporting case for it. It's always just an assertion. Where is the analysis and data that supports the idea?
