If your main enemy is willing to participate in the coverup, that's a problem. We regularly forget about the horrific prison camps and racial policies of North Korean, because we're more worried about them having nuclear weapons. Same with religious persecution in Iran. If we can make a deal that keeps Iran and North Korea out of the nuclear club, and confined to their borders, it's best not to let their purely domestic attrocities get in the way.
