- ben_w 2y agoI specifically mentioned lasers and relays (which I called repeater stations). Ocean based receivers give you all the problems of land based ones, plus water corrosion and more storm damage, plus needing the hard parts of a global power grid because the only "safe" ocean it could be over where everyone will agree to not worry about weaponisation is the Pacific… well, except for all the ocean trade in the Pacific and the fact that whichever nation owns such a power system would have total supremacy over everything using it.
