- duxup 2y agoI think they'll be safe if their bosses pay the appropriate bribe: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/dec/20/uline-mexican-workers-trump https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/dec/20/uline-mexica...
- techpineapple 2y agoOne of the core tenants of the Trump Administration seems to be “trust me bro”. Like. Trump says a bunch of stuff and then just does whatever immigration policy he wants, divorced from a core tenet. I didn’t vote for Trump, so I didn’t want any of this, so since all I have left to do is intellectualize. If your theory of the crime is that immigrants are taking American jobs, wouldn’t you want to start with high wage jobs? Also, if you really wanted to give those jobs to Americans, wouldn’t you outlaw it heavily disincentives outsourcing? It’s odd the way politics is so loud and public yet so quiet. Trumps out there yelling about it and some employees are in meeting quietly thinking “You’ve fun to work with, but I hope you get deported”
- reaperducer 2y agoWhat really surprised me in this article is that currently, 98% of H1B applications are approved. Reading the complaints on HN all these years led me to believe it was much lower than that.
