First API, then GUI

  I disagree with this approach. Having used APIs designed in this fashion before, I've found that they have a bad tendency of overemphasizing complexity, and making it hard to accomplish basic tasks. I'd much rather build out a UI for whatever use case I need to satisfy, fill it out with a mock API, and then replace the mock with a real data source.
