I also thought that people in the USA care much more about dental care than people in other parts of the world. Maybe, it's also related to the cost of dental procedures. For example, in some post-USSR countries, getting a filling or even a crown costs $50-100 (might be cheaper if you don't care about quality). I believe this is cheaper than in the USA by several orders.
