Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I think maybe they have access to a large dataset, rather than that they have captured it themselves. I'm not sure we have enough knowledge of how the thought works to understand thought from images. They may just as well be encoding the pixels and thinking they are reading what the brain understands.
