- bell-cot 2y agoOr, you might figure that using a freebie email account for critical stuff is a bad idea. And pay a modest fee to some provider who offers real, old-fashioned customer service. But sadly - "free now, regret later" is a much better fit for human nature.
- LinuxBender 2y agoMissing from this is the follow-on path of attack. If people enable 2FA for their Google account the attack will move from Google / GMail to the cell phone and this will increase the risk of SIM jacking. The article should also suggest that everyone log into their wireless provider and enable Number Lock not to be confused with a SIM lock to reduce the risks of their SIM being hijacked. This won't stop malicious employees at wireless providers however and that is still a real problem.
