It is possible to talk to young children in a grown up way faster than people think, at least for those that do not have recent experience with toddlers. My son is 2 1/2 and making sure we know he wants to do things his own way. But if you take time to explain a situation like an adult he backs down eventually. Or, it could be I am just boring him to death and he gives in to shut me up.
