As somebody that has worked at the CDC and now works for the NIH, the thing that enrages me about all of this is the gov desperately needs more efficiency. With hiring, compliance, grants, etc. Its very telling that I have heard nothing about the rube goldberg usajobs application system from DOGE.
Instead, we are getting a stupid made-for-TV efficiency, where the leaders refuse to understand technical concepts as braindead simple as a reference date.
- techpineapple 2y agoI think it's remarkable, that if you look at like immigration, they really play up the emotional aspects of what they're doing, because they're fundamentally not as competent at deportations. Similar to this, they don't have any answers of how to make it really efficient because it's "hard" so instead we get a twitter feed of imagined savings.
