How BYD's battery breakthrough is about to bury Elon Musk's Tesla

- dzhiurgis 2y agoMaybe in 5-10 years. Zero impact short term.
- jmye 2y agoI’ll never stop finding it weird how utterly disconnected TSLA and BYD are from actual corporate performance and how long the culture/meme war can sustain a remarkably shitty company’s market cap, in spite of almost schedulable fuck ups and lies to investors.
- jqpabc123 2y agoTesla is traded on NASDAQ and has a P/E of 130. BYD is an over the counter stock with a P/E of 27. GM, Ford and Toyota are traded on NYS, all with a P/E of under 10. There are questionable market caps --- and then there is Tesla.
- jmye 2y agoRight? And I could even get it, prior to it being clear that nearly every promise was a lie. Actual self driving? Your car turning into a taxi when you don’t need it? An off-road vehicle with 500 mile range? Would’ve been incredible. Instead, it’s a mediocre, expensive couple of vehicles, some of which are incredibly poorly made, with vastly worse battery tech than BYD. Meh, I’m sure you could make arguments that the stock market has always been weird and irrational, but I’ll just never stop finding TSLA’s valuation bonkers.
