I hope this includes fake meat.
- throwway120385 2y agoIf you can figure out how to include real meat and still account for dietary preferences and allergies for the entire student populace for $2.15 a day then you should publish a book.
- Auracle 2y agoIf you can figure out how to account for the dietary preferences and allergies for the entire student populace for $10 a day I'd call you crazy. That's why we have multiple lunch lines, why they can say "no" to certain things, and why they can bring bagged lunches.
- encoderer 2y agoWe spend about $22,000 a year per student in California. A lot of it is wasted on well meaning but ineffective policy. I think we can afford real meat.
- windhaven 2y agoAs someone who went to public schools and has food allergies, schools I went to just… didn’t account for students with allergies beyond “don’t include nuts.”
- ben7799 2y agoI have a kid with celiac.. he has eaten exactly 0 school food ever. They have never been able to make us feel confidence in their preparation safety.
- crooked-v 2y agoWhy?
- encoderer 2y agoExtremely processed. Only choice is to buy it directly from a factory. I would like my kids to have real food options. The only way I can do that is to pack their lunch most days. They’re young so that works for now, but they will probably not be packing a lunch in high school.
- hnpolicestate 2y agoIt should, but I think you can see the correlation between climate activism and popularizing ultra processed food, by the downvotes.
