My point was that Republicans are hypocritical and will happily throw "core" beliefs down the drain if "those nasty other people" start taking advantage of them. I lived in Western Pennsylvania during Reagan's terms of office--I assure you that my beefs with his governance are WAY more substantive than a stupid issue like gun control.
