Clueless is the wrong word. Calculated is.

Remember Hanlon's Razor, never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

While I like this razor, it's overbroad. Malicious people can always say 'oopsie, I have no clue what I'm doing lol'. Also, you can have people who are both malicious and stupid. Conversely, we know some people are not stupid. I dislike marco Rubio's politics for example, but he's a smart guy and widely considered to be competent. And as an attorney and a US Senator of long experience in intelligence matters, there's no way he's unaware of the legal implications of using a self-destructing messaging channel.

Remember Dietrich Bonhöffer, Lutheran pastor who considered stupidity a greater threat to good than malice. https://hn.algolia.com/?q=bonhoeffer https://hn.algolia.com/?q=bonhoeffer
