- Alive-in-2025 2y agoI sometimes get what seem to be impossible captchas. Why don't they just show the website without the check? What's the point of a check like this where they just "show you the web page" if you pass. No log in, no subscribe bs blah blah, just show you the webpage. The other day I got one of those "click on the bicycles". It has the usual bikes, but there was also some impossible to understand partial dot plot outlines of something that might have been a bike, or might have been a bus or a street light. I gave up after 30 seconds and one try and just archive.is to see the site.

- PaulHoule 2y agoI've yet to have those things be a problem for a real webcrawling project but I guess there's a first time for everything. Sometimes I wonder if they are at least partially performative. I was having terrible problems with CAPTCHAs on a 2019 Samsung Tablet which left me wondering if they're the new green bubble. - Larrikin 2y agoAI company's declaring proper attribution to sources an intractable problem will make this the default state of the internet. I'm glad atleast that there are more Captcha options out there now instead of the ones that just help Google make money by making me waste my time.
