- cosmic_cheese 2y agoAdditionally, installed PWAs on macOS and iOS live in their own little detached universes which can be helpful.
- Etheryte 2y agoFor context, Safari 17 was released September 18, 2023.
- BenFranklin100 2y agoI did not know that. Thanks. Edit: see jshier’s response.
- jshier 2y agoYou can create profiles, but as I understand it, Firefox containers allow you to scope profile-like containment to specific websites, which is not possible with Safari containers. In fact, I abandoned my look at Safari profiles because you can't bind particular sites to particular profiles, nor can you open sites using a specific profile within a particular tab, it must always be a window.
- BenFranklin100 2y agoThat is exactly how Firefox containers work. That’s much more powerful than what the person you are responding to implied.
- mnot 2y agoYou can bind sites to containers in safari.
- layer8 2y agoOn iOS? How? I couldn’t find any documentation on it?
- jshier 2y agoTook another look at this and it looks like you can set a profile to use for a site in the website settings, Open Links With Profile settings. You have to visit first, but it does seem to work. Unfortunately still limited to a whole new window, which makes the whole thing rather awkward, but more useful that I thought.
- wkat4242 2y agoYeah the thing I love about container tabs is that they are tabs. I have so many containers, I don't want a separate window for each of them.
- hnburnsy 2y agoLove Apple, profiles for MacOS and Safari, but not iOS.
- BiteCode_dev 2y agoContainers work at the tab level, making them usable IMO. And firefox has profiles too.
