Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, gaming wasn’t sort of high fidelity enough to worry about the culture war, but I do think it’s somewhat weird the gamergate folks have like co-opted the gate keeping of games in the wrong ways. Gaming should be fun full stop and this idea that like games need to feature attractive women to pander to men.
When I was a kid sexuality was basically absent from games except when it was satirical - i.e. Leisure Suit Larry.

It shouldn't pander to anything other than the people writing the game. Let creatives be creatives. After that let the free market decide what is and isn't fun to it.
- techpineapple 2y agoI basically agree. I do wonder, at some point executives are going to start asking, how do we reach more people, and I wonder if right wing executives think it’s hilarious that they pander to certain groups to increase market share, and everyone blames the woke left for it. Not that I think it’s specifically a right wing issue, I think it’s a capitalism issue, pandering has been a problem forever and done badly it pisses everyone off.
