LLMs seem clearly better for learning the basics, which IMO is what this paper is measuring? Infinitely patient interlocutor who you can ask for code reviews on sketchy/embarrassing WIP. Maybe as the quality bar for generated code rises we’ll see more engineers giving up on learning entirely. But I feel that just forces the human up one level, eg now you are learning how to build products and iterate on user requirements rather than the minutia of writing code. And the LLM can help you to learn that new skill too.
