A few dudes firing a bunch of people entirely through executive action has absolutely nothing to do with the financial problem you're worried about. The federal payroll is not a significant cost, and the executive branch doesn't control the budget. It is no different than a magician doing misdirection. It's up to you whether you want to buy the act.
