Fairly flawed article.
Simple fact is, when you put the manufacturing of things into fewer hands this increases any risk dramatically.
Would we be having a serious conversation about an egg shortage if the large companies that dominate the egg market didn't have to cull excessively high numbers because they were all stuffed into a small area?
What's really weird is the supply of eggs hasn't changed in the statistics with all these cullings going on. You expect that following a culling egg production would be down, and prices are raised regardless but the volume has stayed fairly close to the same like it didn't happen and profits are through the roof.
So what's really happening? Looks like price fixing.
