Coca-Cola's new hydrogen-powered vending machine doesn't need a power outlet
- svilen_dobrev 2y agoso now, the "god of japan", that is, the two beverage-vending machines on very top of mount Fuji, can go free of cables and proliferate to every other mount top :/
- arealaccount 2y agoThis sounds a lot like a battery? I'm sure it's different?
- daggersandscars 2y agoIt's similar-ish. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_cell https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_cell and https://www.powermag.com/fuel-cells-vs-batteries-whats-the-difference/ https://www.powermag.com/fuel-cells-vs-batteries-whats-the-d..., tho the latter may be biased.

- wslh 2y agoAnd beyond the autonomy, how much energy do you need to create this hydrogen-powered cells? I think in batteries there is a 10:1 in EROEI [1]. [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy_return_on_investment https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy_return_on_investment
- aaron695 2y agoIt's more a hydrogen powered fridge\heater. A vending machine doesn't really need power or limited power if not chilled/heated.
- beefnugs 2y agoHate these kinds of news, not even worth reading unless it has cost per watt, how long does it last before refuel, what kind of refuel infrastructure in each country so far, how do i make my own fuel as cheap as possible, how repairable
- animal531 2y agoPfff. I mean if you really wanted green you could just make a hand crank operated machine, have the user spin the wheel a bit to generate power or lift a weight and then go through the normal cycle.
