I often use "please" and "thank you". I'm not sure why, since I don't treat other inanimate objects this way. I just feel odd writing something curtly or rudely.
- bayarearefugee 2y agoIts because we incorrectly conflate language with intelligence, which is why so many people are ok with cruelty toward non-verbal animals, and which is also why we delusionally call LLMs "AI" when they are nothing of the sort.
- danielbln 2y agoWhat's AI in your opinion? Not saying LLM are intelligent, or artificial intelligence, but what is? What would that look like?
- theWreckluse 2y agoI do anthropomorphize other things like builds, etc. I guess it's natural.
