Counter-terror police investigating 'unprecedented' fire that shut Heathrow

- jacknews 2y agoGotta keep ringing that 'terrorism' bell, even though this looks like a simple accident and infrastructure planning incompetence. "Miliband said he understood there was a backup system but that it had also been affected by the extent of the fire." Not much of a backup then if it's at the same location. This is one of the world's busiest airports, it should obviously have a completely independent second source of power, so that an 'unprecedented' (really? they happen all the time) substation fire can't knock it out.
- Juliate 2y agoOr perhaps the fact that it didn't happen that bad earlier is that the threat model has substantially changed in the recent years?
- reify 2y agoperfect timing to lobby for a third runway and to fail. A third runway that has no power source backup set up and running My god! Even I have a backup power supply in my old caravan. I must say. I am enjoying the peace and quiet. I live about 4 miles from heathrow and depending on he wind direction, directly under the flight path. I sometimes hear plane taking off at 2.30am. The noise is like a hell. I certainly do not want a third runway
