South Korea probably went too far in the other direction. Apparently their presidents have a tendency to end up imprisoned after they step down. If I were the sitting president I'd probably be scared too, and might take risks to try to hold onto power as long as possible even to the point of declaring martial law or something.

Poor guy! He can plead in court that he was scared, in trial with a jury and judge. > If I were the sitting president I'd probably be scared too, and might take risks to try to hold onto power as long as possible even to the point of declaring martial law or something. :)
- yorwba 2y agoYoon Suk-yeol's predecessors as president (Moon Jae-in and Hwang Kyo-an) haven't been arrested as far as I know, so maybe all Yoon had to do to avoid arrest was to not do anything illegal.
- mmooss 2y agoThat's how I avoid arrest.
