  Can't comment on the China info, but I looked at the travel advice page for Thailand because I know more about living there. The advice seems badly out of date. The Thailand - Cambodia dispute and armed conflict over the Preah Vihear temple area got resolved over a decade ago. Bangkok has not seen large political protests in several years. The Canadian travel advice page for the USA doesn't mention increasingly aggressive ICE officers or the recent detentions of Canadian citizens, or the anti-Canada rhetoric from the administration.
