I'm sorry, but I can't help but find a lot wrong with the article. It comes off as some rich man's attempt at cosplaying as Bear Grylls. I am not going to say the author's entire journey was a waste of time. I do not believe any knowledge is a waste. However, why would someone fly from NYC to Mexico to learn about survival? There is a gigantic difference between summers in Xcalak, Mexico and winters in New York.
