I had sons in high school from 2005 to 2021. What I wanted: Prep for entry-level job in a trade at graduation - prep that was as big a school priority - as the prep to enroll in a 4yr college. I didn't get what I wanted. What my sons got was 4yr college prep no matter what. Past that they could spend their elective hour in a trade class. Some of the classes had a 2yr-3yr waiting list. Texas to the rescue: "Your school system let you down. Here's some state sponsored religion to fix that. You're welcome."
