It's a telluric area--- sicily and the continent are moving and their distance increases some centimeters every year.
Also look for "messina earthquake" year 1908, between 75000 and 82000 people died.
It is a "trophy" for some politician... so no, it's not an easy task.
- namaria 2y agoNot to mention the fact that the economy of the whole of Sicily amounts to about 90 billion euro, the neighboring Calabria amounts to 35 billion and the nearest major city to Sicily is Naples, 480 km away. There just isn't an economic case for a bridge.
