- danmaz74 2y agoFrom the article: "Companies like CoreCivic and GEO Group receive government funding based on the number of people they detain, which is why they lobby for stricter immigration policies. It’s a lucrative business: CoreCivic made over $560m from Ice contracts in a single year. In 2024, GEO Group made more than $763m from Ice contracts."

- jakelazaroff 2y agoYeah, it’s basically “drained pool politics”. The threat of extrajudicial imprisonment objectively makes the US a less attractive place for business and will hurt us economically. The current administration simply cares more about resegregating the country and will cut off all our noses to spite our faces.

- cratermoon 2y ago> At a certain point the foreigners will turn America into the country they came from. You say that like it's a bad thing. OH NOES the US will become more democratic and equitable and less racist and hateful
- rayiner 2y ago> OH NOES the US will become more democratic and equitable and less racist and hateful If those countries are “more democratic and equitable and less racist and hateful” then why are people coming here?
- jakelazaroff 2y agoTo be clear, this is just unabashed xenophobia; there’s absolutely no basis in fact for what you’re saying.
