Foldable MacBook-iPad Hybrid Device Likely to Run macOS, Analyst Says
- ggm 2y agoI suspect that underlying OS will cease to determine what apps it runs, when the iOS and OSX both run on Apple ARM instruction set chips. Emulation isn't the word, but some level of ABI compatibility through translation layers, and the union of the two OS behind one model feels like work well underway. It may be the primacy of keyboarded input has been taken as a given to appeal to one market segment, and that OSX does that better. I'm not convinced it's true, the primary problem for me in soft kb is the lack of tactile feedback but the secondary problem is .. unreliability. Even in sideways mode I find (on Samsung android which is in many ways best of breed) its a strange experience.
