  It's equally disingenuous to compare them to "general purpose computers" too, in that case. A primary computing device doesn't have to be a "general purpose computer".

  It might be the primary communications device. So maybe we should look at our definition of computer in this context. As almost everything contains software programmable controllers these days, that cannot be the definition.
