What actionfromafar said. If we lose the rule of law in the US, and the rules-based international order, it will be a very different world. Technology: GPT is at least part of a revolution. It will, I think, be less than people hype it to be, but more than nothing. Sociology/society/culture: There is a massive vote against the future right now. It's in the deaths of despair. It's in the lack of children. It's in the epidemic of loneliness. Something is fundamentally broken, and it's breaking our society. (Or maybe society is fundamentally broken, and it's breaking us.) If nobody wants the future that they see, then some kind of revolution is likely.
