- xqcgrek2 2y agoI don't understand why they are even trying to bail out Columbia. Cut off its funds and let the university either fund itself via its endowment or die.

- techpineapple 2y agoI mean, because frankly, the administration can't tell them what to do if they don't re-offer the funds.

- Jtsummers 2y agoThreatening to or actually removing federal funding is one thing, but this is absolutely bizarre: > In a letter sent Thursday night, federal officials said the university must immediately place its Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies Department under “academic receivership for a minimum of five years.” The federal government has no business trying to claim control of an academic department in a private institution (nor in public but state-owned institutions).

- drooby 2y agoAnd where will all the right leaning folks concerned about the Twitter File's government suppression of speech be? Silence.. guaranteed silence... Because they don't actually care about freedom or speech. Just their own speech.
