Ask HN: Do US tech companies expect more loyalty of their employees?
For example, are employees of US tech companies expected to praise and use its products even when not at work?
And if so, is this less the case in other countries?
- p_ing 2y agoDepends on the company, ya? Microsoft isn't going to care that you went in all Apple or all Linux at home (or work!). But companies like Coke and Pepsi aren't going to be too happy to see an employee drinking a competitor's product. Not that anyone would drink Pepsi. Years ago I worked for a company that was building a relationship with Apple. The company sent some employees to an Apple facility with Dell laptops. That didn't go over too well. Got a bunch of Macs after that.
