i think the idea is to have a hashtag for #family versus #work, and then only invite your family to receive your #family "feed" as it were, while anyone could follow your #work messages. the point is that you wouldn't mention #family naturally in a message intended for family (eg, "rex loves new collar. thx mom."). the hash (#) is simply a convention for unnatural categorization. am i misunderstanding trends parsing?
