I just received a new MacBook Air and my MagSafe connection is pretty much the same as the last two notebooks. It sounds to me like Pogue has a physical problem with the magnet. He should get it looked at by Apple. I can drag the 11" Air across my desk by pulling on the power cord. It doesn't disconnect unless I pull up or down.
